中国のメディアは，オバマ大統領が政界で脚光を浴びるようになって以来，一貫して「奥巴馬」と表記している。（略）
だが北京の米国大使館は，オバマ大統領訪中に先立ち，ウェブサイト上で「欧巴馬」の表記を採用した。「欧巴馬」は，既に台湾と香港では使用されている。（略）
一方で，中国外務省のウェブサイト上では，オバマ大統領は「奥巴馬」のまま。中国メディアも，この時点での強制的な表記変更は米政府にとって困難な仕事になるかもしれないとけん制している。
一部の中国人ブロガーたちは，オバマ大統領に対し，中国の革命指導者である毛沢東（Mao Zedong）と混ぜ合わせた「毛巴馬」，「奥巴毛」といった呼び名を用いている。(国際ニュースコミュニティ)
